The South Korean designer Lee Jean Youn, winner of the 밇l Bot?- MANGO FASHION AWARDS? designs a collection for the brand




Barcelona, 12th March 2010 ?/SPAN> This season, the winner of the second edition of the international event, the 밇L BOT?-MANGO FASHION AWARDS? Lee Jean Youn, is designing a limited edition collection for MANGO.

 

LEE JEAN YOUN FOR MANGO embodies a blend of simplicity and romance, combining traditional elements of the Orient with hint of European chic/rock.   It is made up of 11 looks with items which include suits, dresses for special occasions, flowing trousers, shoulder pieces and tricot. These garments, with their simple forms and certain exaggerated volumes, feature precious stones, fringes and braids in Oriental motifs and traditional techniques.  Platform sandals with a visible zip on the heel complete these looks. The colour palette is grey, rouge, beige, natural, black and white.

 

LEE JEAN YOUN FOR MANGO will be available from 1 May at stores in the Arab Emirates, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Qatar, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, United States and mangoshop.com. Collection prices range from 19€ to 129€.

 

Lee Jean Youn was born in South Korea in 1978. He graduated in Fashion Design at Hongik University. Throughout his 12 year career, Lee Jean Youn has received numerous awards, including the F/W Seoul Collection, the Jury Prize of the 21st Century Superiority Talent Award, the Grand Prix Seoul Venture Design Collection and the Grand Prix 2nd Doota Venture Designer Contest. His designs have been exhibited at the China Qingdao Fashion Week, at the Hong Kong Fashion Week, at the famous Who뭩 Next fair in Paris and at the Las Vegas Magic Show. More recently, he exhibited at the prestigious Haute Couture show in Paris.

 

Last April, the collection which Lee Jean Youn submitted for the 밇l Bot?- MANGO Fashion Awards?was exhibited together with the other finalists for one week in Barcelona's Passeig de Gr?ia. The lavish exhibition, located at the intersection of the streets Arag?/SPAN>n and Rosell?, consisted of 20 perspex cubicles. Each cubicle contained 4 mannequins, dressed in the collections of the 10 finalists.

 

According to Lee Jean Youn, 밠ANGO Fashion Awards gave me an opportunity for my outfits to be judged by a lot of press. Also the big prize money and collaboration with MANGO will help me to step up my career as a fashion designer. The preparation for MANGO Fashion Awards was the biggest challenge for me. I wanted to make my portfolio very special so I put lots of time and effort into it?

 

His predecessors, Sandrina Fasoli and Michael M?son, the winners of the first edition of the competition, created a limited edition collection for MANGO which sold successfully in the brand's stores last season.
